Martin Castro, president and CEO of Castro Synergies, will present “Achieving the American Dream for Latinos in the U.S.: Educational, Entrepreneurial & Electoral Empowerment” on Friday as part of a ongoing series by the Greater Quad-Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

The event, which is part of the chamber's Multicultural Speaker Series, will be from 7:45-9:30 a.m. at the MetroLINK Centre Station, 1200 River Drive, Moline. The fee, which includes breakfast, is $20 for non-members, $15 for chamber members and $10 for students.

Lee Vasquez, the Hispanic chamber's executive director, said Castro "has worked to help others and also encouraged the business world to work in harmony with the multicultural community.”

Castro Synergies provides strategic consulting services to corporations, entrepreneurs and nonprofit organizations seeking to have a positive social impact on diverse communities.

Castro also is president, co-founder and serves on the corporate board of directors of New Futuro, a company that provides Latino families with the knowledge, guidance and professional social network to get Latino youth into college and beyond. In January 2011, he became a commissioner at the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights and later was named as the agency’s eighth chair and its first Latino chair.
