Traffic was slowed for several hours Monday at the intersection of Interstates 74 and 280 in Moline when a hog truck overturned on an exit ramp.

The accident occurred about 3:17 p.m. when the truck driver, who had been eastbound on I-74 and was turning on to westbound I-280, took the exit ramp too fast, causing the truck to overturn, Master Sgt. Lloyd Murphy of the Illinois State Police said.

The truck was carrying about 170 hogs, some of which were injured, Murphy said. The truck driver was not injured. The hogs had to be unloaded and loaded into another truck before the overturned truck could be set upright.
