The Red Cross is assisting a family of five after a fire early Sunday left their home uninhabitable.

The Rock Island Fire Department was called to 4420 5th Ave. about 1:20 a.m. on a report of smoke coming from a second-floor bedroom window, according to a media release. Rock Island Police officers arrived on the scene first and found that all family members were outside. No one was injured.

Firefighters were able to put out the fire quickly. The fire marshal’s office is investigating the cause.
