A frigid Tuesday to all. Another day of brutal temperatures. We're talking about -23 degrees at the Davenport Airport at 6 a.m. At the National Weather Service's Moline International Airport location, it's -21 degrees, which breaks the old record of -15 set way back in 1885! And yes, some schools are starting their day later than normal because of the cold. However there is some good news on the horizon. Come Thursday temps could climb above freezing.
Here's the National Weather Service. Today is expected to be sunny and cold with a high near 9 degrees. Wind chill values will be as low as -15.
Tonight's low will be around -2 degrees with wind chill values as low as -15.
Snow is likely on Wednesday, but little accumulation is expected. The high will be 24 and the low around 13.
But get this: On Thursday partly sunny skies will push temps to near 32 degrees.
Break out the shorts and sandals!
