Quad-City area kids will swim, bike and run for fun and awards Saturday during the Hy-Vee Kids Fit Triathlon at the Bettendorf Family Y, 3800 Tanglefoot Lane.

The competition attracts 200 kids from age 6 to 15. It begins at 8 a.m., and the awards ceremony is expected to start about 11:30 a.m.

The event follows the same swim-bike-run format as an adult triathlon, with distances adjusted for the ages of the competitors. The top 15 boys and top 15 girls at each age level will qualify to compete in the Hy-Vee Kids Championship Triathlon at the Hy-Vee Triathlon on Aug. 30 in Des Moines.

Registration is available online through today. On-site registration is available during packet pickup from 3-6 p.m. Friday at the Bettendorf Y. For more information, visit the Hy-Vee Kids Fit Quad-Cities website at hyveekidsfit.com/triathlons/quad-cities-triathlon-2.
