Iowa 80 Truckstop and CAT Scale Co. have awarded the first round of grants to local organizations from the recently established Iowa 80/CAT Scale Go Iowa Fund Grant Program. Iowa 80 Truckstop and CAT Scale Company established the fund through the Community Foundation of the Great River Bend. The grant program provides employees and other individuals a structure to request money to support good causes, organizations or philanthropies they are involved in.
The following grants were awarded on Jan. 2 for applications received for the December 2012 grant cycle.
Student Hunger Drive, $2,000; Walcott Fire Department, $2,000; Junior Achievement of the Heartland, $1,775; Walcott Police Department, $1,424; Toys for Tots — Quad-Cities, $1,226; JDRF Greater Iowa Chapter, $1,000; Community Fellowship Church, $1,000; and city of Walcott Vision Committee, $300.
The Iowa 80/CAT Scale Go Iowa Fund can only make grants that benefit Iowa-based charities, Iowa activities or to organizations that have a presence in Iowa.
