The Junior League of the Quad-Cities is teaming up with the River Bend Foodbank at Jefferson-Edison Elementary School, Davenport, to distribute food on Saturday through the food bank’s mobile food pantry.
The pantry will be held in the back of the school, located at 1027 N. Marquette St., from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The project is part of the Junior League’s “Done-In-A-Day” program, which was instituted this year. The program seeks to meet the needs of local non-profit organizations by providing volunteer assistance for focused short-term projects. The project with River Bend Foodbank is the second Done-In-A-Day program this year for the Junior League. The first was done at Bridge House of Family Resources Inc. where Junior League volunteers made a comfort room for the female residents.
River Bend Foodbank collects, stores and redistributes food to more than 300 agencies in eastern Iowa and western Illinois. Member agencies include food pantries, kids café, residential treatment centers, homeless shelters, domestic violence programs, daycare and after school programs
