The Family and Friends of Reece Morgan will hold a kickoff breakfast for the Coach Reece Summer Hoops League at 7:30 a.m. May 1 at Wood Intermediate School.

The Family and Friends of Reece Morgan was established in 2009 to carry on the legacy of Reece Morgan — mentor, community educator, life coach and the longtime program director of the mentoring program called Solutions at the Y, which was run through the Scott County Family Y.

Morgan died suddenly in October 2009 at age 53.

To keep the legacy of Morgan alive, the Family and Friends of Reece Morgan established the Coach Reece Summer Hoops League, which held its first season in the summer of 2010 and has continued to mentor hundreds of youth since. 

Eugene Chism, of the Family and Friends of Reece Morgan, said the kickoff breakfast will give people the opportunity to learn how they can play a supportive role "in this community labor of love" and help keep Morgan's legacy alive.
