An emergency spillway in the Odessa levee has been overtopped by rising waters on the Mississippi and Iowa rivers, flooding the entire Lake Odessa Complex in Louisa County.

The river forecast shows water levels reaching heights similar to the 2011 flood, which was the seventh highest flood on record in the area.

The Sand Run, Schafer’s and Toolesboro accesses will all be inaccessible because of flooding.

The Port Louisa National Wildlife Refuge also will be flooded and the “Port Road” (120th Street) will be closed.

The Snively campground managed by the Louisa County Conservation Board also is closed.

A significant drop in river levels will be necessary before accesses can be reopened.
