The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will offer a free boating safety education class from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 30 at the Mississippi River Project Office at Lock and Dam 14 along U.S. 67, Pleasant Valley. The eight-hour classroom safety course is for ages 12 and older. Those 16 and younger must be supervised by an adult. Upon successful completion of the class and a written exam, participants will be issued an Illinois DNR Boat Safety certification, honored in Iowa and Illinois. Space is limited.
