Rock Island Township will celebrate Illinois Township Day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Town Hall, 2827 7th Ave. A Rock Island Police Department K-9 demonstration is scheduled for 1 p.m. and Rock Island Fire Department apparatus will be on display from noon to 1 p.m. The open house will also have hot dogs, chips and drinks at the Town Hall.

Representatives from Delacerda House, Rock Island Urban Gardeners/ Broadway Presbyterian Church, Sacred Heart Food Pantry, St. Joseph/St. Pius X Meal Site, the King Center’s A.C.T.I.V.E. Club, among others, will be available to explain the services they provide.

The public is invited to meet your township elected officials, hear about the programs and activities offered, and visit the assessor’s office to see information and pictures of your property.

Other elected township officials are Assessor Brenda Carmen, Town Clerk Joan Clark and Trustees James Kerr Sr., Heather Gray, Vince Thomas and Rita Kirk.
