City Hall: Before the Davenport City Council begins discussing the matter, the public will have an opportunity to weigh-in on the rezoning of a prospective site for a Costco Wholesale location in northeast Davenport. The public hearing will take place during the City Council’s committee-of-the-whole meeting, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in Council Chambers, 226 W. 4th St., Davenport.
County: The Rock Island County Board is seeking public input regarding the future of the county courthouse. County Administrator Dave Ross has proposed a three-fourth cents sales tax increase to pay to guit and rebuild the interior for use as a county office. It will hold a public meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, 1504 Third Ave., Rock Island.
Sports: Pleasant Valley, Davenport Assumption and Durant will compete in the Iowa high school softball tournament this week in Fort Dodge. Assumption Class (Class 3A) and Durant (2A), both seeded No. 1 in their respective classes, will begin competition today with PV (5A) playing its first game on Tuesday.
The Professional Disc Golf Association World Championships will be held on a variety of Quad-Cities courses from Tuesday through Friday. Players ranging in age from 6 to 80 will compete at Camden Park, Credit Island, Eastern Avenue Park, Middle Park, Prospect Park, Richmond Hill Park and West Lake Park.
