We received the following questions from an Ask the Times reader and published a response from Don Doxsie, Quad-City Times sports reporter, in Thursday's Ask the Times column:

Q. How many former Quad-Cities River Bandits players are on the Houston Astros' World Series roster? -- David, Davenport

A. We received the following additional information from Dave Heller, president and CEO of Main Street Baseball LLC, Billings Mustangs - Cincinnati Reds short-season A affiliate; Lowell Spinners - Boston Red Sox short-season A affiliate; Quad Cities River Bandits - Houston Astros Single-A affiliate; and Wilmington Blue Rocks - Kansas City Royals Advanced-A affiliate:

"Don Doxsie is right about the eight former Bandits playing on the Astros. But it's also worth noting that there is one former Bandit, Josh Fields, who plays for the Dodgers, too. He gave up the home runs to Altuve and Correa last night." (Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2017)

Steve Batterson, Quad-City Times sports reporter, who covers the Quad-Cities River Bandits, also added:

"There are nine players on rosters for this year's World Series who played for the Quad-Cities River Bandits, all during the five seasons the Midwest League club has been an affiliate of the Houston Astros.

"The group includes six players who were with Quad-Cities as they worked their way up through the Astros farm system and three who are considered to be River Bandits alumni by Minor League Baseball after making major-league rehab appearances here.

"Infielder Carlos Correa and pitchers Lance McCullers and Chris Devenski of the Astros played for Quad-Cities' 2013 Midwest League championship team.

"Houston infielder Alex Bregman made his pro debut on a River Bandits team in 2015 which also included outfielder Derek Fisher and pitcher Joe Musgrove.

"The other three 2017 World Series participants made brief Quad-Cities stops after reaching the major leagues on rehab assignments while with Houston.

"Dodgers pitcher Josh Fields pitched for the River Bandits in 2013, Astros outfielder George Springer spent time with Quad-Cities in 2014 and catcher Evan Gattis played two games with the River Bandits in September of this year in the opening round of the Midwest League playoffs at Modern Woodmen Park."
