The 24-hour Schnucks grocery store at 858 Middle Road, Bettendorf, was closed for several hours this morning after a minor fire.

Manager Rick Winkeljohn said the store experienced a power outage after something struck a transformer behind the store, causing a fire at the transformer box. Smoke entered the store as a result, he said, and it was closed from 3 a.m. to 7 a.m.

At noon Monday, fans were seen on the floor throughout the store’s produce section.

Officials from the Scott County Health Department inspected the store afterward, Winkeljohn said, adding, “They gave us the green light to get back to work.”
