In response to an early morning Sunday fire in Moline, the American Red Cross of the Quad-Cities area is ensuring that one adult's emergency needs are being met.

The fire broke out shortly after 4:30 a.m. at 2017 15th St. A, according to Moline firefighters, who arrived to find fire in the first-floor kitchen and fire and smoke in the basement. The fire apparently started in the basement and extended into the kitchen, firefighters said.

A resident called 911 before safely leaving the structure.

The cause of the fire, which remains under investigation, had not been determined Sunday night.
