Bob Vogelbaugh’s 42nd Thanksgiving dinner got a boost today as the Moline Police Benevolent Association donated $2,000 to the man known as “Mr. Thanksgiving.”

Making his annual appeal for assistance, Vogelbaugh said he has about $6,000 on hand and anticipates needing about $10,000 more for the community dinner served Nov. 22 at the food court at SouthPark Mall in Moline. Last year, the dinner fed 2,700 people.

The number of people reached through the Thanksgiving dinner prompted the benevolent association to get involved, president Nate Medinger said. In previous years, the benevolent association provided 200 to 300 Thanksgiving food baskets.

“Bob’s dinner feeds thousands of people,” he said. “We wanted to have more of an impact.”

Donations may be sent to: Mr. Thanksgiving, 3716 35th St., Apt. 3, Moline IL, 61265.

Are we able to donate a turkey to him? My wife and I each get one from our employers, and have no need for one of them. Would love to donate one to help others.
