MUSCATINE, Iowa — A Muscatine teenager has been arrested for arson and burglary, each a class B felony.

According to court documents, Benjamin Phillips, 16, whose address was last reported as 615 Pine St., broke into a home at 411 Pine St. in the early hours of April 10 and started a fire using gasoline.

The fire caused extensive damage to the home. At the time of the fire, a pregnant woman, Kami Monson, was in bed sleeping. Monson was able to escape the home without injury and call 911.

According a Monson's boyfriend, Aaron Guhn, Phillips had been living at the residence a year prior to the arson and is related to his Monson. Guhn was unable to comment further.

A class B felony carries a prison term up to 25 years.

Phillips is being held at the Muscatine County Jail on a $250,000 cash-only bond. A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m., Friday April 25.
