A sale of native plants will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the maintenance building of Black Hawk State Historic Site, 1510 Blackhawk Road, Rock Island.
Plants for butterfly/bird gardens, prairie gardens, rain gardens and shady areas will be available, along with deer-resistant varieties and a limited number of potted trees.
To request a species list, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The sale is sponsored by River Bend Wildland Stewards, formerly Natural Area Guardians.
Native plants are perennials that are well adapted to Quad-City region soils and climate and are disease-resistant. Once established, they require less maintenance, fertilizer and water.
