Davenport North High School was evacuated Thursday afternoon, after a fire alarm went off because of smoke in a classroom.

Firefighters responded from station 7, located at 2302 W. 67th St., and station 8, at 2302 E. 53rd St. Firefighters had returned to station 8 by 3 p.m. Thursday.

It is standard procedure to evacuate a school when the alarm goes off, according to district fire chief Neil Gainey.
