DAVENPORT — Carolyn Gabelmann, 63, of Davenport, passed away peacefully at her home Friday, May 23, 2014, surrounded by her family. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation, Longmont, Colo., or to any favorite charity.
Carolyn was born in 1950 in Des Moines, the daughter of Ted and Dorothy Gabelmann. She graduated from Prairie City High School (Prairie City, Iowa), and also obtained a bachelor of arts degree from the former Marycrest College, Davenport. She worked for 34 years as a paralegal in the Scott County Attorney’s Office.
She enjoyed Iowa Hawkeyes football games, traveling, turtles, nature, the arts and to be active in all kinds of outdoor activities. Her Dutch heritage was very special to her.
Survivors include her daughters, Angela Aalbers, Pocatello, Idaho, and Lauree (Frank) Brown, Savanna, Ill.; parents, Ted and Dorothy Gabelmann; sister, Jean (Jim) Walker; and nephews, Michael (Leah) Wilson and David (Alicia) Wilson, all of Prairie City.
She was preceded in death by R.C. Travis.
