DURANT — Charles Alan "Chuck" Rogers, 72, of Durant, passed away, suddenly in a peaceful manner, Sunday, March 11, 2018, at Genesis Medical Center-East Rusholme Street, Davenport.
Chuck was born in Chariton, Iowa, on November 6, 1945, a son of Charles and Marjorie G. (Hoffman) Rogers.
He graduated from Chariton High School and received his bachelor's degree from UNI.
He owned and operated Rogers Insurance and Financial Services in Durant.
He was a member of the Durant Chamber of Commerce and the Durant Athletic Boosters. He taught at Durant High School and coached several sports, including wrestling, football and track and field, for many years. In later years, he was a bus driver for the school district. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and attending Iowa sporting events.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 15, 2018, at Bentley Funeral Home in Durant.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 16, 2018, at the funeral home.
Interment will be at the Durant Cemetery.
Chuck is survived and lovingly remembered by his sister, Sharon (Richard) Petefish of Champaign, Illinois; and his niece, Jennifer (Nicholas) Wherley, and his great-niece and nephew, Grace and Jackson Wherley, all of Tolono, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his fiancé, Debra Burkhart.
