MORTON, Ill. — Dave L. Keyser, 69, of Morton, passed away at 7:45 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 17, 2016, at his residence after a year-long battle with colon cancer.
He was born May 14, 1947, in Bloomington, Illinois, to Sterling and Mildred (Larimore) Keyser. He married Bobbi Loveless (formerly of Aledo, Illinois) on Nov. 28, 1987.
Surviving are his wife, Bobbi, of Morton; four children, Scott (Michelle) Keyser of New Port Richey, Florida, Darci (Chris) Matz of Chicago, Meeah (Joe) Pekarek of Chicago, and Micah Loveless of Morton; four grandchildren, Owen and Ian Keyser, Emily Loveless and Keyser Matz; two brothers, Richard (Jan) Keyser of Roscoe, and Darrel (Linda) Keyser of Mackinaw.
Dave was a 1965 graduate of Dee-Mack High School.
He was drafted into the U.S. Army in August 1966 and was stationed in Arlington, Virgina.
For 25 years, Dave worked for Fort Transfer in Morton, starting as a driver and progressing in the company to the developer and director of environmental operations. During that time, he was active in numerous agriculture and chemical associations working closely with Syngenta, Monsanto, Dow and DuPont. The culmination of these work experiences led him to begin his own business, Klean Wash Inc., in 1995. Throughout his time in this profession, he created lasting relationships both professionally and personally.
His many road trips created a vast knowledge of which routes to travel and the best places to eat and stay. If anyone wanted to know a good place to eat in the U.S., the response would be “ask Dave Keyser."
Dave’s faith was evident as he lived his daily life. He had a heart for others, always putting their needs above his own. Dave could always be found lending a helping hand to a friend or neighbor in need. He enjoyed visiting with the neighborhood children who would often stop by to see him. His genuine care and concern for his family and those in his community touched the hearts of many. His selfless personality will be dearly missed by all.
Our family will be eternally grateful for the angels from Nurses Caring for Others, who tenderly cared for Dave and surrounded our family with love during his days at home. They were truly a blessing to us from God. We would also like to thank the physicians and medical staff at Illinois CancerCare; especially the ladies at the front desk and the personnel in Pod D.
Dave attended New Life Christian Church in Morton where a Celebration of Life Service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 20. Pastor Thad Harless and Pastor Josh Trueblood will officiate. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. today at the church. Further visitation will be 9-9:45 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Burial will be at Roberts Cemetery in Morton.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to New Life Christian Church, 401 W. Edgewood Court, Morton, IL 61550, or to the Peoria Rescue Mission, 601 SW Adams, Peoria, IL 61602.
