BROOKSVILLE, Fla. — Dr. Lorene M. (Logic) Price, 99, went home to the Lord Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, surrounded by family. Married since 1936, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Galen R. Price, D.C., in 2000, and by siblings, Agnes (Logic) Rutherford, Cecelia Logic and George Logic.

Born to Dr. George D. and Mayme (Kauth) Logic in Caledonia, Wis., and raised in South Milwaukee, Wis., Lorene graduated from South Milwaukee High School in 1932, Hanelin Business College in 1934 and graduated and received her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1936.

Following Lorene’s footsteps, two of her children are chiropractors, and one son-in-law, four grandchildren and three of their spouses are also chiropractors.

Dr. Price was an active member of Sigma Phi Chi sorority. She received the Women’s Chiropractor Mabel Palmer Award as Outstanding Woman Chiropractor in 1966. She was president of the sorority and spoke to women with enthusiasm in support of the Principles of Chiropractic at state chiropractors conventions. She traveled extensively with her husband, Galen, who was an international speaker for the chiropractic world.

A devout Catholic, Lorene was also president of the Iowa Diocesan Council of Catholic Women in 1967 and 1968. The state of Iowa presented her with the Iowa Mother of Merit Award in 1978.

During the 1950s through the 1970s, Lorene was active in the PTA and also in the Altar and Rosary Society at St. Paul the Apostle Church.

In 1959, she was the first president of Assumption High School Parents Club in Davenport. She was a volunteer for 20 years at the Putnam Museum in Davenport.

A positive, loving friend to all who knew her, Lorene’s greatest joy was her family.

She is survived by one sibling, Charles Logic of Racine, Wis., and her six children, Patricia and Art Cook of Mission Viejo, Calif., Galen and Sharon (Huebner) Price of Punta Gorda, Fla., David Price of Brooksville, Fla., Dr. Charles and Christine (Hebenstreet) Price of Floral City, Fla., Dr. Mary and Dr. William Pfeifer of Ketchikan, Alaska, and George and Lily (Joseph) Price of Eugene, Ore.; 21 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.

The family will greet friends from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, in the Gathering Space at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 916 E. Rusholme St., Davenport. A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Private burial will be Monday in the Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home is assisting her family with local arrangements.
