PRINCETON - Earl Clifford Day, 87, of Princeton, Iowa, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Sept. 10, 2017, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport, where his family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until time of service. Memorials may be made to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House or to King’s Harvest No-Kill Animal Shelter.
Earl was born in 1929 in Rock Island, to Clyde and Mildred Day. He married Marjorie Curtis on November 24, 2004, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He started work at an early age and was accustomed to hard work. He was a mechanic and operated a gas station and towing service, in addition to a used car dealership in Milan and Rock Island. He later worked and retired from Brandt Construction.
Earl was a longtime member of Kaaba Shrine. He also enjoyed his Harley motorcycle. Earl never met a stranger and truly enjoyed talking with anyone.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie; grandchildren, Harrison Day and Olivia Day; step-daughter, Christine (Mark) DeWulf; step-sons, Barry Curtis and Scott (Fran) Curtis; step-grandchildren, Cameron Curtis and Crystal DeWulf; brother, Ray (Dolores) Day; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Larry Day; and siblings, Virginia, Howard and Maureen.
The Day family would like to thank the nurses and doctors who cared for Earl over the past months, as well as the staff of the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House for their exceptional care in his last days.
