DAVENPORT — Edward Michael Tallman, 81, a resident of Davenport, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017, at Crest Health Care Center, Davenport. Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m.  Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 422 E. 10th St., Davenport. Burial will take place privately at the Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. The family will greet friends and family on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass at the Cathedral. Memorials may be made to the Ridgecrest Foundation or Sacred Heart Cathedral.

Edward Michael Tallman was born on Oct. 5, 1935, in Cascade, Iowa, son of Joseph J. and Aurelia Beatrice (Gavin) Tallman. He was a 1954 graduate of St. Ambrose Academy, where he was a standout athlete, lettering in football. Mike proudly served our country in the U. S. Marine Corps. Sports continued to play a big part of Eddie Mike’s life after school and he was an avid fan of Notre Dame, Green Bay Packers and the St. Louis Cardinals.

Eddie Mike was united in marriage to Arlene Barker in 1962 and later was united in marriage to Margaret “Mickey” Richardson on Oct. 30, 1991. She preceded him in death on June 10, 2009.

Mike worked at Alcoa for 27 years, retiring in 2000. Even after retirement, working was his hobby and he always found a way to keep busy.

He had been a longtime member of Sacred Heart Cathedral where he served as an altar server and attended grade school.

Survivors include his sons, Scott Tallman, Palm Springs, California, and John Tallman, Miami, Florida; stepdaughters, Debbie Joynt, Bettendorf, Diane Dellamarggio, Vacaville, California, and Linda Reynolds, Fair Oaks, California; sisters, Joan (Bill) Quick and Dianna (Jim) Paustian, all of Davenport; sisters-in-law, Gerry Tallman and Joan Tallman, all of Bettendorf; and many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his wives, Arlene and Mickey, he was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Joe “J.J.” Tallman, twin brother David, and Robert “Bob” Tallman. May they rest in peace.

The Tallman family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Crest Health Care Center for all of the loving and compassionate care they shared with Eddie Mike.
