NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Electa Ann “Lucky” Van De Gejuchte, 75, died Aug. 6, 2017. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. with a vigil service at 7 p.m. on August 14; funeral at 11:30 a.m. August 15, both at St. Stephen Catholic Community, 14544 Lebanon Road, Old Hickory, Tennessee.
Electa “Lucky” was born September 3, 1941, in Springfield, Ill., to Freeman and Mary Furniss. She graduated from Moline Senior High School in 1959. On August 19, 1961, she married David Lee Van De Gejuchte. She attended Moline Community College and Moline Public Hospital to obtain her certification as an Operating Room Technician. She worked at Finley Hospital in Dubuque, Swedish-American Hospital in Rockford, and Baptist/St. Thomas Midtown in Nashville, Tenn.
Lucky was an avid cook, a skilled gardener and a pet lover. She was devoted to her church and was an active member of Ladies of Charity, serving as president of Nashville LOC, Day Chair, and Nashville’s representative to the National LOC. She was a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, volunteered with St. Stephen Knights Kitchen Crew and LOC Thrift Sale. Lucky and her late husband, David, were honored to receive the St. Stephen Family of the Year Award in 2009-10 and 2011-12.
She is survived by her children, Lynn Sola (Louis), Kristen Rickey (Glen), Tim VanDeGejuchte (Kristin); eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Deborah Furniss; brothers-in-law, Ron Van De Gejuchte (Rena) and Bob Van De Gejuchte (Stephanie); sister-in-law, Marcia Herr (Bill); and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, mother and father, grandparents and cousins.
