DAVENPORT — Gerald “Jerry” Bentley, 82, of Davenport, passed away Friday, November 3, 2017, after a long battle with cancer. Per his wishes, he will be cremated and a private memorial will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice or Shriners Hospitals for Children. Jerry was born January 24, 1935, to Leonard and Mary (Sumstine) Bentley. He served in the Air Force for seven years and enjoyed the Honor Flight trip. Jerry was united in marriage to Catherine Bickett on February 14, 1981, in Omaha, Nebraska. He drove semi-truck for 27 years and worked at Lowe’s after his retirement.
He enjoyed traveling in his RV with his wife, Cathy, to national parks, especially Yellowstone.
Those left to honor his memory include his loving wife of 36 years, Cathy; children, Jim (friend, Sherri) Bentley, Missy (Dan) Dipple, Susan (Tim) Payne, Amy (Angel) Vargas; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and sisters, Elaine (Vic) Johnson, Marilyn (Bud) Barton and Marjorie (Bob) Deter.
