WALCOTT, Iowa — James L. Brockmann, 72, of Walcott, Iowa, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2017, at Genesis Medical Center-East Rusholme Street, Davenport.
James was born in Davenport on May 30, 1945, the son of Elmer and Alberta H. (Riessen) Brockmann.
He graduated from West High School in 1963, then attended Iowa State University.
James proudly served his country in the United States Army 1st Calvary, during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Walcott American Legion, Post 548.
James married Rhonda R. Rietz on February 28, 1988, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
He was employed at JI Case and finished his employment at Alcoa with 46 years of work before retiring in March 2015.
His hobbies were fishing, snowmobiling, farming with his brother and spending time with his friends and family.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2017 from 4-7 p.m. at Bentley Funeral Home in Durant.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 8, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Bentley Funeral Home in Durant with Pastor Al Coffin officiating.
James is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Rhonda of Walcott; his children, Kale Brockmann (Stephani Reding) of Maple Grove, Minnesota, Benjamin (Allison) Brockmann of Davenport, Tenley Brockmann (Cory Gorsuch) of Walcott, Jesse Brockmann (Kendra Bosten) of North Liberty, and Amanda (Blaze) Tomlin of Mount Sterling, Kentucky; his grandchildren, Katrina and Maverick, whom James adored. He is also survived by his siblings, Deanna (Keith) Moore of Davenport, Peggy (Ron) Sleep of Long Grove, John (Janet) Brockmann of Walcott, Chuck (Kim) Brockmann of Long Grove and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial has been established in James' memory.
