DAVENPORT - Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Karen M. Erickson, 79, a resident of Davenport, will be 11 a.m. Thursday, September 14, 2017, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 4105 N. Division Street, Davenport. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday in the Gathering Space at the church from 10 a.m. until the service time at 11 a.m. Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home is assisting her family with arrangements. Karen passed away Sunday, September 10, 2017, at her home with her family.
Karen Margaret O’Connell was born July 21, 1938, in Madison, South Dakota, a daughter of Mathias and Alma (Farrell) O’Connell. She graduated from Mercy School of Nursing in 1958, earning her RN degree.
She was united in marriage to George W. Erickson on November 28, 1959. They have been blessed with over 57 years of marriage.
Karen was a loving wife and mother and cherished the time spent with her kids and grandchildren. She was active parishioner at church, always volunteering one way or another.
Memorials can be made in her name to the Carmelite Monastery in Eldridge, Iowa.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, George, and their children and spouses, David (Corinne) Erickson, Cave Creek, Arizona, Susan (John) Sparks, Davenport, Sara Viktora, Greenfield, Wisconsin; her grandchildren, Aubrey Erickson, Erick Sparks, Emily Sparks, Mathew McCollum, Olivia Viktora and Joseph Viktora; a brother, Dr. Daniel (Delores) O’Connell, Dillingham, Alaska; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Christopher Erickson. May they rest in peace.
