SPRINGFIELD — Kathryn “Kitty” L. Heller, 89 of Springfield, died at 7:21 p.m. Saturday, November 11, 2017, at Memorial Medical Center. She was born March 7, 1928, in Davenport to Max and Dorothea Fries Lelonek. She married James “Jim” W. Heller on August 23, 1947, and he preceded her in death on March 31, 2004.
Survivors include six children, James (Mary Ann) Heller II of Petersburg, Mary Sue (James) Sweeney of Vicksburg, Michigan, Stephen (Georganne Marsh) Heller of Chicago, Theresa Freiburg of Princeton, Illinois, Anna Marie “Ann” (David) Quattrin of Springfield, Kathleen “Kathy” (David) Waide of Springfield; 16 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren with one on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Thomas Gerard Heller; one granddaughter; and three brothers, Max Lelonek Jr. Robert D. Lelonek and Peter John Lelonek.
Kathryn worked as a receptionist at Springfield Clinic for 26 years.
She was a member of St. Agnes Church; was a volunteer at Washington Street Mission; was active in the Clayville Folk Arts Guild and taught quilling. She started the Springfield Lucky Ladies Investment Club and was a leader in the bereavement group at St. Agnes and was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society.
Visitation: 4-7 p.m. Friday, November 17, 2017, at Staab Funeral Home - Springfield with a prayer service at 4 p.m.
Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Saturday, November 18, 2017, at St. Agnes Church with Reverend Robert Jallas officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
