MUSCATINE — Mernon Wesley Peck Sr., 95, of Muscatine, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016, at Lutheran Living. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, at Island United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Muscatine Memorial Park. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, 2016, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Memorials may be directed to Island United Methodist Church in Mernon’s name. Mernon Wesley Peck was born May 31, 1921, in Muscatine, the son of George W. and Martha (Howell) Peck. On Nov. 1, 1946, Mernon was united in marriage to Blanche L. Davis in Muscatine. He was a member of the Island United Methodist Church and a former member of the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed playing chess, checkers, bingo, cards, going on trips to California, trips and parties with the bank group and, most of all, spending time with family and friends.
Mernon will be deeply missed by his wife, Blanche Peck of Muscatine; granddaughter, Tricia Wagner; three great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Tracy Peck; and niece, Karen Shett.
Mernon was preceded in death by his parents; son, Mernon W. Peck Jr.; four sisters, Margaret Peck, Georgie Montgomery, Wava Peck and Nathalee Wheeler; and niece, Sandra Crow.
