MOLINE — Peter Durry, 70, of Moline, died Friday, Sept. 16, 2016, at Trinity Rock Island.
A family-directed memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 4107 21st Ave., Moline. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. is assisting the family with arrangements.
Peter was born Nov. 8, 1945, in Marie, Arkansas, the son of Walter and Viola Smith Durry. He married Margaret Fulscher-Takantjas on Oct. 25, 1980, in Davenport.
Peter was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving from 1963–1967. He went on to earn his master’s degree in social work at the University of Illinois. Peter was a licensed clinical social worker at the VA in Danville, Illinois. He was a history buff and enjoyed working on improvement projects around the house, above all, Peter loved his family and was enjoying his retirement.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Durry; children, Eileen (Steven) Pyevich, East Moline, Jim Takantjas, Homer, Illinois, Tina Strieder, Rock Island, Melissa Swift, Port Byron, Christina (Tom) McCormick, El Paso, Illinois, Alex (Edith) Takantjas, Belmont, New Hampshire, Michael Durry, Chicago; 12 grandchildren; siblings, Mary (Earl) Fredrich, Plainfield, Illinois, Paul (Terry) Durry, Rock Island, Patricia Durry, Kewanee, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Nicholas.
