WALCOTT — Stanley Earl Giese, 74, of Walcott, passed away Saturday, March 18, 2017, at Courtyard Estates in Walcott.
Stanley was born March 11, 1943, in Davenport, to Earl William and Elsie Emma (Soenke) Giese.
Stan graduated from Davenport Central High School in 1961.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.
Stanley's first job was with Blue Star Tool and Die in Davenport, where he served his apprenticeship as a tool and die maker. He also worked for Kentronics in Rock Island. He finished his formal working career with Rock Island Ready Mix (parent company was Moline Consumers) where he worked as a machinist and tool and die maker.
Stan was a life member of the Walcott American Legion Post 548. He served on the Walcott Fire Department.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, March 24, at the Bentley Funeral Home in Durant, Iowa. Graveside Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 25, at Walcott Cemetery. Military honors will be performed by the Walcott American Legion Post 548 and final alarm ceremony by the Walcott Volunteer Fire Department.
Stan is survived by and lovingly remembered by his sisters, Reva Giese, of Yelm, Washington, Sally Giese, of Redwood City, California, Marilyn (husband Mike) Thompson, of Prescott Valley, Arizona and Annette Giese of Hiawatha, Iowa: nieces and nephews, Toby (wife Venise) Koffman, Bess Koffman, Mark (wife Vicky) Thompson; and great-niece Rana Koffman.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial donations may be made to the Walcott Fire Department in his memory.
