Special Olympics officials are still seeking participants for today’s “Over the Edge” fundraiser in downtown Davenport.
Participants will rappel off the 11-story Hotel Blackhawk, 200 E. 3rd St. They are asked to raise a minimum of $750 to support athletes with intellectual disabilities who train and compete through Special Olympics Iowa and Special Olympics Illinois.
Activities will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in front of the hotel.
Organizer Lindsay Eastin said people can show up to participate from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. They’ll need to register one hour in advance.
In the spirit of Halloween, rappellers are encouraged to come in costume, Eastin said.
