The countdown to the 2013 National Scout Jamboree at the Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia is coming to a close — just a few more days! With fun and excitement in mind, the preparation is everything. Every Boy Scout in the Illowa Council was issued a duffel bag and a day pack; this is all we get to take! We have to pack all our clothes, camp gear and personal gear into these bags. It sounds hard, but not really!

The trick is to pack light. Limit yourself on clothes, so you have more room for your personal gear. We will do laundry, so we won't smell all the time! The preparation is half the fun, and packing light is essential, especially since we have to haul all of our gear a half mile in one trip! With the right choices in mind, it will make our Scouting experience at the Jamboree worth all the work!

The excitement and thrill I'm expecting is beyond compare! I may never get another chance to do whitewater rafting and more than six miles of ziplines! I know it's going to be a blast, and I'll have tons of fun! I'm all set and ready to get on that bus. Jamboree, here I come!
