Police are searching for a suspect in a bank robbery that occurred about 1 p.m. in Sherrard, Ill.

Authorities are looking for a green or teal-colored car that headed north after the suspect left the bank with an undetermined amount of money.

The robber was described as a male black wearing a black hoodie, a ski mask, black or dark-colored jeans and dark-colored gloves. He inferred that he had a weapon but did not display it.

An ambulance was dispatched to the scene, First Community Bank, in the Mercer County town that sits just south of the Rock Island County line.

The vehicle description is similar to the one involved in a Nov. 8 robbery at Viola’s Union Federal Savings and Loan. Viola Police Chief Tom Mulder said the investigation in that robbery is continuing, with leads being followed.
