Area law officers will trade in their handcuffs and badges for gourmet burgers and aprons Saturday at Red Robin restaurants as part of the national Tip-A-Cop event benefiting the Special Olympics. Law enforcement in 39 states will collect tips and help serve guests from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 4-8 p.m. All five of Iowa’s Red Robin restaurants, including the one at 3903 E. 53rd St., Davenport, will participate.

Red Robin has supported Special Olympics programs across the country for the past six years and has helped raise more than $1.5 million. Special Olympics Iowa serves nearly 11,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities and Unified Sports partners in all 99 counties of Iowa. Twenty-three Olympic-type sports are offered on a year-round basis.

Tip-A-Cop is part of the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run campaign.
