A Davenport woman's drowning last week in the Mississippi River may have been either accidental or suicidal, police said Monday.
An autopsy was conducted on the body of 29-year-old Jennifer Cooney, and the preliminary cause of death is drowning, Davenport Assistant Police Chief Don Schaeffer said.
There were no visible signs of injuries, indicating the death to be either accidental or suicidal, Schaeffer said.
Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death, he said.
A bicyclist reported seeing the body Friday morning in the river about 200 yards downstream from the Crescent Bridge. Crews were on scene shortly after 8 a.m., and the body was removed from the river.
