Ceremonies were held around the country Friday to remember former prisoners of war and soldiers who are unaccounted for or missing in America's wars, and one of those events drew a crowd Friday morning at the Rock Island Arsenal. Participants released balloons honoring the soldiers, and former POW Lyle Sheldon, shown saluting, laid a ceremonial wreath at the POW/MIA Memorial at the Arsenal. Another event was held Friday night at Veterans Memorial Park in Bettendorf, including a Missing Man Table with an explanation of the significance of items attached to the table.
