Meet with legislators: The next Scott County legislative forum will be Saturday, with coffee at 10 a.m. and a forum from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Mississippi Bend AEA 9, 729 21st St., Bettendorf. The discussion and question-answer time with state lawmakers from the Quad-Cities will be moderated by the Scott County Farm Bureau.

River Valley Library seeks craft vendors: The Friends of the River Valley Library, 214 S. Main St., Port Byron, will host a craft and vendor show from 4-7:30 p.m. April 19 and 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. April 20. Crafters or vendors wishing to set up a sale table are asked to contact Norine at 309-721-6972. Cost for a table is $10 for one day, $15 for both.

German American events: The German American Heritage Center offers several upcoming events and activities:

* A curator-led Gallery Talk for the new exhibit “Eye of the Beholder: The Photography of Bradley W. Schaupp” will be

1 p.m. Sunday. Exhibit curator Christine Powers will lead a discussion on the photography of her grandfather, Bradley W. Schaupp, and the images he captured over a lifetime. The works of Schaupp, educated at the Fred Archer School of Photography, range from portraiture to nature and still life.  The event is free with museum admission, $5 adults, $4 seniors, $3 children and free for members.  

* An open house with free admission to the center’s exhibits will be noon to 4 p.m. March 2, with discounts on membership and at the gift shop.

* German for Travelers language classes will be 4:30-6:30 p.m. Thursdays April 4, 11, 18 and 25. Classes will be taught by Eileen Williams-Jackson. Registration and payment are due by April 1. Jackson County foundation offers scholarships: The Community Foundation of Jackson County is seeking applications for its 2013 scholarship program featuring more than 20 scholarship funds for area high school and college students. New this year is the C.L.E.A.R. Scholarship benefitting Bellevue Marquette graduating seniors. All applications are due by 4 p.m. April 1. In 2012, the foundation awarded more than $44,000 in scholarships. Kindergarten registration in Moline: Kindergarten registration will be held March 21 at elementary schools in the Moline-Coal Valley School District. Doors will open at 6 p.m. for sign-in and document review for parents and students who will begin kindergarten in the 2013-14 school year (those age 5 on or before Sept. 1, 2013). Parents should bring a certified birth certificate and pick up a packet at the school to fill out before the event or call the school to let them know they will be attending. Military ski discount: Military Appreciation Day will be March 3 at Snowstar Winter Sports Park, 9500 126th St. W., Andalusia.
