Recreation areas in Thomson, Ill., and Clinton, Iowa, have been closed because of rising floodwater, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project announced this morning.

The closures are for the Thomson Causeway Recreation Area and Bulger's Hollow Recreation Area in Clinton.

The gates to the recreation areas will be closed and will be re-opened to the public when the areas have dried out sufficiently to allow safe access by vehicles and debris has been removed from the area.

For further information on this closure, contact the Thomson Park Rangers at 815-259-3628.
