The Illinois Department of Transportation reports that weather permitting, construction work on Illinois 92 west of Andalusia will begin today.

Valley Construction Company is starting the $6.2 million project to make improvements to the four-mile section of Illinois 92 from Bright's Court to 115th Street.

This fall, the contractor will be working on pavement repairs, tree removal, and culvert extensions. Pavement widening, shoulder work and resurfacing of the roadway will be completed during the 2014 construction season.

Drivers should be prepared to stop for flaggers who will be directing traffic past the work areas. The roadway will be restricted to one lane during working hours.

Motorists are also reminded to slow down and drive carefully through all construction zones.
