Rock Island police officers and firefighters will cooking up the brats and hotdogs outside of the Moline Walmart on Saturday to raise money for the annual Cops and Firefighters for Christmas Program.
The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with cops and firefighters and volunteers also collecting money for the program that has been a joint effort between the departments for 15 years.
Rock Island Police Deputy Chief Jason Foy said that at Christmas cops and firefighters work with needy children to assist them in shopping for Christmas gifts for their families and themselves.
“This yearly event has helped create many positive interactions between local students and their police and firemen,” Foy said.
Donations for the program also may be sent to the Rock Island Police Department, 1212 5th Ave., Rock Island, 61201.
