Davenport schools begin the new school year Monday, and police are reminding drivers to be aware of increased pedestrian and vehicle traffic around schools. School-zone speed limits will begin to be enforced Monday, police said in a news release. The school-zone limits are in effect from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. every school day. Officers will be monitoring the school zones.

Motorists and pedestrians also are urged to obey the instructions of school crossing guards, and motorists dropping off or picking up students must obey all parking, stopping and standing regulations.
