A Mitsubishi Montero flipped onto its top Tuesday after colliding with a Toyota Corolla in the parking lot of Davenport West High School at 2:51 p.m., police said.

Minor injuries were reported to the students who were driving the cars, Davenport Police Cpl. Kris Mayer said.

According to Mayer, the Montero was northbound in the parking lot while the Corolla was westbound, and they collided in the middle. The impact caused the Montero, with its higher center of gravity, to roll over.

Sandi Hansen, who was at the school waiting for her daughter, watched as the car flipped and slid on its top, coming to rest inches from Hansen’s silver Toyota Camry.
