road work sign

Quad-City drivers should be alert to a road closing in Rock Island that begins Wednesday morning.

The city of Rock Island reports that 19th Street at 6th Avenue will be closed until late Wednesday for water service repairs to Trinity Anglican Church.

The road will reopen on a temporary pavement at that time. Construction of the permanent pavement will occur later this spring when weather improves.

Travel delays can be expected; non-construction traffic should avoid this location and use an alternate route. Drivers should follow posted construction signs for detour directions.
