Scouts from the Quad-City area as well as across the country and around the world are preparing to head to the 2013 National Scout Jamboree, and the Quad-City Times will be well-represented.

The Jamboree is scheduled from July 15-24 at a new site, the Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve in the wilderness of West Virginia. Held once every four years, the National Scout Jamboree draws tens of thousands of Scouts, Venturers and volunteers.

Among the Quad-City area contingent will be three hometown correspondents who will be blogging for the Quad-City Times at Some of their dispatches also will appear in the print editions. They are:

  • Joe O’Meara, Moline, a Boy Scout from Jamboree Troop C114. He will be a freshman at Alleman Catholic High School.
  • Noah Kelly, Rock Island, a Boy Scout with Troop 109, Moline, and Jamboree Troop C114. He will be a freshman at Alleman Catholic High School. Noah's first blog already has been posted.
  • Caitlin Berggren, Wilton, Iowa, is a Venturing Scout from Crew 584, Wilton, and Jamboree Troop F401. She will be a sophomore at Wilton High School.

The participating troops and crews are part of the contingent from Illowa Council of Boy Scouts of America, based in Davenport.
