Quad-City area transit systems announce they have joined forces again this year in support of Quad-City cyclists by offering free rides to those who choose to “bike and bus” during Bike to Work Week, May 15-19. Visit Quad-City transit systems at www.qctransit.com or at www.bettendorf.org/transit, www.citidbus.com, and www.metroqc.com.

Bettendorf, Davenport, and Metro fixed-route buses will honor bikes as fare as bike rack space permits. All Quad-City fixed-route buses are equipped with bicycle racks that can accommodate up to two bicycles.

Bike to Work Week, sponsored by the League of American Bicyclists, encourages people to discover the benefits of bicycling as a transportation alternative. Commuting to work or school, running errands, or out for entertainment/relaxation, bicycling as transportation is a way to become more active, increase physical fitness, and release stress; it also promotes air quality, and helps reduce wear and tear on local roads.
