"Developing Dreams," the fourth annual Northwest Illinois/MVDOVIA Volunteerism Conference is 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday in Moline.

The conference is co-sponsored by the Serve Illinois Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service. The keynote speaker is Keekee Pregracke, the mother of well-known Quad-City environmentlist Chad Pregracke.

Chad Pregracke, who recently was selected one of CNN’s Top 10 Heroes of 2013, will welcome conference attendees with a casual and personal video shot on the banks of the Mississippi River upstream from the conference setting. Chad also will give some great, yet simple, advice in his video on how to create and sustain a successful volunteer effort.

His mother will talk about how he was motivated to his extraordinary service of cleaning up the Mississippi and other American rivers.

Registration is $35, $20 for students and AmeriCorps members.
