A film that concerns the opioid epidemic in America, produced by a Davenport native, will get its local debut Thursday at the Figge Museum after its premiere in Los Angeles.
"Warning: Take Only as Directed," is the first musical penned by Trish Figge Glowacki, the film's producer. Glowacki's 20-year-old son, Charlie, died in 2011 after a drug overdose, and the film's message seeks to find a way to end events like this.
The 26-minute film screening is included in a program, Thursday 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Figge, 225 W. Second St., Davenport.
Davenport Mayor Frank Klipsch will emcee the event, which includes the introduction of Glowacki, who has returned to her hometown of Davenport from Maryland.
The evening includes student performances by the Quad-City Academy of Rock, the jazz choir from Assumption High School, Glowacki's alma mater, and a performance by Wicked Liz and the Belly Swirls, which will be joined by Dale Fisher, a musician who also is helping in local arrangements.
A roundtable discussion will follow, to include Davenport Police Chief Paul Sikorski, Fire Department Captain Todd Witchelo and others.
